FAQ

Frequently asked questions about fleet telematics, Fleet Tracker features, hardware and implementation.

What is Fleet Tracker?

Fleet Tracker is the telematics module of FleetOnAir. It extends Fleet Starter with real-time vehicle location, trip history, geofences, alerts, driver behaviour analysis and fuel consumption analysis. Vehicle data is available on the map, in trip history, alerts and reports, alongside information about vehicles, drivers, documents and upcoming deadlines.

What hardware is required to use Fleet Tracker?

Every monitored vehicle needs a source of telematics data. In most cases, this is a GPS device — the type of tracker and installation method are selected based on the vehicle and implementation requirements. If you already use compatible devices, we can connect them to FleetOnAir without replacing the hardware. Extended technical data from the CAN bus and integrations with vehicle manufacturer systems are available in a higher-tier package.

How is Fleet Tracker different from Fleet Starter?

Fleet Starter is designed for managing vehicles, drivers, documents, deadlines and vehicle handovers, as well as monitoring fleet costs and analysing TCO. Fleet Tracker extends this scope with GPS monitoring, trip history, geofences, alerts, driver behaviour analysis through Safe Driving and fuel consumption analysis through Eco driving. Fleet Tracker is built on top of Fleet Starter — it is not a separate system.

Is driver behaviour analysis included in Fleet Tracker?

Yes. Safe Driving and Eco driving are included in the Fleet Tracker package. Selected additional modules are priced separately, including Dynamic Mileage, gamification, pool car reservations and paid parking zones.

How does Fleet Tracker calculate fuel consumption?

In Fleet Tracker, fuel consumption is calculated based on trip data, mileage and recorded refuelling transactions. Direct fuel consumption data from the vehicle requires access to CAN bus data or an OEM integration.

How does Fleet Tracker support data protection and driver privacy?

Fleet Tracker allows you to manage access to data and separate business and private trips. The organisation using the system is responsible for defining the purpose and legal basis for data processing, informing drivers, and establishing rules for data access and retention.

How much does Fleet Tracker cost?

Fleet Tracker includes the full scope of Fleet Starter and adds GPS monitoring, Safe Driving and Eco driving. Selected additional modules and extended CAN bus data are priced separately. Detailed pricing and available options are listed on our pricing page. For larger fleets, we prepare an individual quote based on fleet size, implementation scope and integrations.
